We attended the APPA Pyramid Awards 2007 last night at the rather impressive Palace Ball Room at the Regent Theater on Collins Street. I think everyone here missed the note about a ‘blue theme’, it seemed we were the only table in the entire room that didn’t have blue on. We did make up for it today though, some people around here look a little blue in the face! Must have been all that red water they kept serving us.

Anyway, the awards were handed out very briskly this year. We took out 2 pyramids again only this time there was no platinum. Boony and Beefy were out done by some red nosed wombats. Come to think of it, there weren’t many awards handed out that didn’t end up in wombat paws.

Well done guys! You know who you are.

Well done to the guys here as well for our 2007 pyramids:

Bronze - HP ‘Back To Work’
Gold - VB ‘Boonanza - Battle of the Tashes’

We received this letter from APPA today. Has Boony done it again? Guess we’ll have to wait until Spetember to find out.

Over the weekend, Michael, Donnie, Paps and Gregg donned the slick threads and headed north. Now you may be wondering what these Melbourne bred boys were doing up in the harbour town, (I think some of the guys were wondering the same thing Sunday morning after a few bevvys), but aside from the partying, the main reason was to attend the APPA Sapphire Winter Show 2006 held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre. Well, looks like Boony is rolling in the awards quicker than the man himself can down the VB’s. It wasn’t the Grand Prix award (which by the way, went to VW’s “FAST” campaign) but a Promo Lion at Cannes for Goerge Patterson Y&R adds another very respectable notch to the Boonanza belt. Read more »

2005-2006 has been a good year for the VB Boonanza campaign. So as a bit of shameless self promotion for ourselves and our partners who also took out a tonne of gongs, we thought it only right that we dedicate trophy cabinet to all round good bloke Boony and how he turned the promotional marketing space on its side.

The list of Awards so far:

APPA PYRAMID AWARDS 2006

Platinum Pyramid for Overall Excellence - Accure

Gold Pyramid for Best Consumer Program - Accure

2006 CANNES LION

Promo Lion - GPYR

ONE SHOW INTERACTIVE AWARDS

Silver Pencil Award - GPYR

APMA STAR AWARDS 2006

Grand Prix Award - GPYR & CAW

Gold Star for Best Multi-disciplined Promo Campaign - GPYR & CAW

Gold Star for Best Activity Generating Brand Awareness & Trial - GPYR & CAW

Gold Star for Best Interactive Media in a Promo Campaign - GPYR & CAW

Gold Star for Best Innovative Promotional Concept/Idea - GPYR & CAW

We have yet to hear from the PPAI (Promotional Products Association International) as to how Boony will go in Dallas, but as soon as the news is delivered, we’ll be sure to post it. In the meantime, here is some a run down from PPAI about the win here in the Australasia region as well as the details to all the other winners.

As a follow up to our recent success at the APPA Awards, here are some pics of the guys collecting the glassware at this year’s APPA Sapphire Winter Show. We’ve been told by Bill Kestin over at APPA that he was thrilled with Michael’s acceptance speech on the night. Asked to recite it, Michael had no recollection. Just don’t use the same line if there happens to be a next time Michael!
