Back in April last year we posted some information on Semacodes or QR codes as they are referred to in Japan. Well we have now discovered a great site called “All about mobile life” that enables people like us to create our very own QR code to put on our blog or where ever the hell we like. The point is, our content becomes that little bit more mobile.

The little black and white barcode looking thing on the right sidebar is your key to a “take-away” version of Carpark. Just snap it on your camera phone and so long as you have the software from KAYWA feed2mobile installed on your phone, you will have a direct mobile feed of Carpark modified specifically to suit the phone browsers. Thanks to our reader comments, you can also check out Neomedia Moblie and QODE which is another software solution for these QR codes.
Now we’re not entirely sure that this actually works, because most of the Accure crew have Blackberries that unfortunately don’t have cameras (If it did, we probably couldn’t carry it in our pockets), but we are waiting for Gregg to do the road test and report with the results soon. Feel free to give it try, we’d love to get some feedback.
To be honest though, we’re doing this just because its something new to us. It may be effective on print and outdoor ads we do, but where’s the real advantage of getting our readers to play around with yet another application on the phone when they are already engaged on our blog? Aside from the mobility and fad factor, I don’t think there is much more.
Create your own QR code here.
HMMMM, you failed to mention Qode in your aticle as another free down loadable software for the mobile device to take a pic of these same codes.
Another one sided view???? Or did you not know about Neomedia Technologies?
Hi,
This is great!!! Thanks for mentioning us.
Just to clarify a bit:
The Kaywa Reader
The Kaywa Reader is a QR Code and Datamatrix Reader . You can find it at:
http://reader.kaywa.com
Phones supported: http://reader.kaywa.com/phones
Soon we will come out with Nokia N80, N73, Samsung etc.
Feed2Mobile
Feed2Mobile = From RSS to your mobile version.
http://feed2mobile.kaywa.com
Create your own QR Codes
http://qrcode.kaywa.com
PS: The QR Code on the right has a link with the .js added. That’s probably do to your wish to not include the whole thing. Just check that it’s only
http://feed2mobile.kaywa.com/20218937
instead of
http://feed2mobile.kaywa.com/20218937.js as it is now.
Also, if you can I would add some white pixels around the code, so that he can be scanned easily. Twice as much as now will do. Otherwise the scanner can not read the code as the surronding black is quite strong;)
If you have any question, send me an email.
I guess we know about Neomedia Technologies now.
Sorry,
Just a little burnt that no one else has posted an article on this company when eveyone else is so concerned about Microsoft or others in this area.
I also forgot about the time difference.
Keep up the good work spreading the word.
…well, after getting my head around the alien-esque glyph before me the real challenge was getting it to work! And work it does!!
BUT, there are few minor notes to foot here…
a. Not all phones are supported by the KAYWA reader. I tested it on the SE k800i.
b. After a few trials, I found that the image had to be taken at just the right distance/angle from the screen for a succcessful “read”…so patience is required. If it fails to read the (sweet looking what-is-the-matrix-i-know-kung-fu) barcode, just take it again on an ever so slightly different angle…
…now i just have to get my own QR code and get it tattooed!
Thanks for the tips Roger.
