No its not the new metro Melbourne transit map, Nowandnext.com and Future Exploration Network have collaborated to create a map of major trends for 2007 and beyond, across ten segments: society & culture, government & politics, work & business, media & communications, science & technology, food & drink, medicine & well-being, financial services, retail & leisure, and transport & automotive. Designed like a transit map for a big international city, core ideas and trends are laid out like train stations and transfer hubs.

Trend Map 2007+
This is a bit of fun and we’re told the maps are given to clients in a full gloss pin-up (we wouldn’t mind one of them!). In the spirit of the “trend” in collaboration though, the creators encourage you to change it if you disagree, or add to it if you think something is missing.

Have a look at the full map here, what would you add? The water scarcity station looks certain to get a major work out if Victoria’s problems are mirrored on a global scale. My prediction - “water scarcity” will become its own hub not too long from now. The shortage of H2O will raise its ugly head in tune with population growth in the east and consumerism everywhere else.
